Pricing
Transparent, pay-as-you-go pricing
No subscriptions or lock-in. You're billed by the hour for exactly the resources you keep — and apps only for the minutes they run.
Frequently asked
- How does SwiftCloud bill for apps?
- Apps are billed by the replica-minute: what is running is measured every minute, and the hour is charged for the minutes it used. An app that sits idle costs nothing, and one that wakes for ten minutes pays for ten minutes.
- Do I still pay for a stopped database or virtual machine?
- Yes, the same as when it runs. Databases, machines and buckets are billed for what they reserve, whether or not they are running — a stopped database or machine still holds its disk and its size, and is charged its full hourly price until you delete it. Apps are the only product whose charge follows what is running.
- Are prices in Kwacha? Is VAT included?
- All prices are in Zambian Kwacha and include VAT at the rate for your market — 16% in Zambia. The hourly figure on this page is the hourly figure deducted from your balance.
- Why does a Windows machine cost more than Linux?
- A Windows machine is priced above the same size running Linux, and only sizes with enough memory for Windows are offered. The price does not include a Windows licence: machines start as the 180-day evaluation edition, and you license them with your own key.
- Is there a subscription or free allowance?
- No subscription and no free allowance. An account costs nothing to open; you top up a balance by mobile money, card or coupon, and are charged hourly for exactly the resources you run.
